In my ongoing training towards the Chicago Marathon I have logged more miles on a local trail. I really enjoy marathon training from the standpoint that these long runs are forcing me to explore running trails around me that I normally would not visit. When I trained for a half marathon the mileage never got above double digits. As a result I was able to train on my local roads.
I recently took a trip around Lake Galena at Peace Valley Park. This park is located about an hour north of Center City Philadelphia in historic Bucks County. Along with a running trail, the park boasts 14 miles of nature trails in the woods and meadows at the eastern end of Lake Galena.
Yesterday I took in a very scenic 4 mile marathon training run at Valley Forge park. This is a great park with miles and miles of trails in a northwestern suburb of Philadelphia. To give you a little perspective when you are looking at Philly on a map:
